Training Potty Wee
What is the average age of potty training?

I know every child is different and you should only potty train when they are ready but i didn't know if potty training was generally done when children are around the same age?
My little girl has started pointing to the loo if someone says they want a wee so she is becoming more aware of the need to go to the loo but she is only 16 months old.
When did you start potty training? And how long did it take?

I had my 27 month old trained in a week...which is a miracle, especially for boys. I'm not saying I'm genius; probably just lucky but I'll let you know what worked for me anyhow.
I threw away all diapers & didn't bother w/the overnight pullups. I bought a waterproof mattress pad, to save his mattress. I had gotten a Fisher Price potty (like on the cover of the book I'll tell you about). Of course, I explained what we'd be doing & how he's going to wear big boy underwear. He went the 1st day w/o wetting himself! (However, if you buy this kind, the music/sounds freaked my son out...so just watch for that.) On the fifth day, I pressed my luck, putting him on the big potty & he went. Afterwards, he didn't bother w/the little one. For a good while, (b/c I stop the drinks at 6pm & we potty once more before bed) he wasn't even going at night. However (& the magazines warn you), that he did regress a little & will slip up once in a while at night. But during the day, he's says "yucky" & that's code for "let's go!"
Rewards: All throughout, I read a potty book w/him ( http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780061450105-FisherPrice+My+Very+Own+Potty+A+Potty+Book+for+Girls) . But I wouldn't go through the trouble of ordering it; they have it at Walmart for $7.00. They have a detachable chart w/stickers in the back that worked marvelously. They have a book for boys & for girls. Also, let her put her own stickers...it's so rewarding (for both mom & daughter!)
