Toilet training is stressful stage for any parent the constant emergency stops when driving on the highway and little “accidents” in the shopping mall. All in all you will both look back one day and find this all vary amusing, well the parents will any way. Getting started on potty training usually begins a year or so before playschool so try to start the potty training around three years old or so it varies from child to child.

Deciding on a Baby potty chair, you would think it was straight forward enough but we have come along way since the memories of the ugly plastic potty chairs of the 80’s. These type of potty chairs act as a really good motivator for your toddler and any additional motivation to use the potty chair is only a good thing. Be sure that the baby potty chair is easy to use and there are no additional drawers or gadgets that can cause a bigger mess when emptying the potty. It’s a good idea to bring your toddler with you and help pick out what potty chair he/she likes as it will act as a motivator for the child to use the potty if they were involved in picking it out.

Another option is a baby potty seat this fixes straight onto the regular toilet and can be adjusted to fit any size of toddler, you may need a step up though as it will be hard for smaller toddlers to reach. These are a clean and efficient option as the mess can be just flushed away and the toddler can quickly get used to using the regular toilet instead of transferring from a potty chair.
